Diaper rash in the groin

Diaper rash in the groin

The groin or inner thighs are very prone to diaper rash, rashes and eczema. Heat, sweat and friction. These are the main causes of groin rashes. Sweaty and chafed skin is a haven for bacteria that live on the skin. They multiply rapidly and form colonies. The skin reacts to this occurrence with inflammation. So how do you get rid of a diaper rash in the groin?

The right underwear - half the success

Proper hygiene and the right underwear are therefore very important. If you suffer from groin rashes, you need to shower more often when sweating. When showering, prefer gels that do not interfere with the natural acidity of the skin. After bathing, do not rub the skin with a towel, but pat it. Powder sensitive areas with baby powder as a precaution. For longer protection, it is a good idea to use Dermaguard barrier cream. It partially prevents sweat from macerating back onto the skin and reduces bacterial growth on the treated area for up to 4 hours.
Men should forget about tight boxers made of synthetic materials and opt for underwear that is more airy and made of natural cotton. For ladies with thicker thighs, lightweight cotton panties with longer legs are ideal under skirts and dresses. There are also elegant thigh bands that resemble garters. However, these tend to be made of artificial lace and the skin heats up underneath.

Treating groin diaper rash is not complicated.

First of all, proper hygiene is necessary. The skin should be gently showered with lukewarm water, soaped with gel and not scrubbed with a washcloth or sponge, and rinsed thoroughly. It is best to air dry the broken skin only. If we want to use a towel, we dry only by tapping and not rubbing.
Dry diaper rash should be lubricated. What to use for diaper rash in the groin? There are a number of creams and preparations for diaper rash. For a mild diaper rash that is only slightly red, a simple baby powder or Dermaguard barrier diaper rash cream will do. For diaper rash that is already burning or itchy, the same creams and lotions are used as for baby diaper rash. For dry - scratchy groin rashes, rather oily creams with zinc or panthenol (Bepanthen, Sudokreme, Rybilka) are used. For wet diaper rash, rather oils and pastes (CutisHelp OPRUDIK, VITELLA Ictamo paste, Imazol, Pytiol). This procedure is repeated at least twice a day until the diaper rash disappears. This usually takes only a few days.
If the diaper rash does not heal, it may be infected with yeast or cocci bacteria. Although antifungal creams can be purchased at the pharmacy, it is better if the problem is consulted with a doctor.
